Pino Burger

There comes a time when we have a little voice saying how we can not be unfaithful to the original. I heard a buzz recently about this certain joint with Mexican burgers and their intriguing way of calling people in since they cook their burgers in a deliciously traffic arousing grill shack outside. I have heard nothing but wonderful comments about this place so I had to try it. I on the other hand was a little disappointed. I honestly think it's because Tortas Hawaii from Nuevo Laredo came into my mind. The concept seemed similar but I have had better. I would say the only reason it may attract attention is because we no longer have a joint like this one in town and a smoking burger sounds nice in comparison to our sea of commercialized burgers. I did try to be fair and ordered the fajita burrito. I was still left dry. It seemed like a big taco. There is one thing I did love and I promise I am not trying to be sarcastic or funny. Their salsa for my beans and burrito.......simply savoring. I am not lying...go ahead and try it. This all of course is solely my opinion. I think everyone should try this themselves.

No Joke! Best salsa I have had in months!

La Fonda de Don Martin

We accidentally ran into this place one day. We were headed towards the south side of Laredo wondering of any hidden places we knew nothing of. I pointed to this place to my girlfriend because a year earlier I had had a real authentic Mexican breakfast with a friend in their north side venue. This was a blessed day. I had food i thought I could only have if I crossed the border ever again. Their parrilladas come with mollejas ( sweet breads ) and a chilles toreados ( seared jalapenos ). This my friends is a must see! Please try their frijoles cristianos also!Their south side restaurant inspired me so much with their mexican art deco that I am definitely having a traditional Mexican wedding and am inquiring to have my small reception there. One last note: Fun fact! They are the same owners for Posh Sushi! Their signature trademark on their menus reads: God bless our food! <3

Parrilladas for two!

 Amazing Panchos!

 Yummy Pear cake!
Definitely four stars for originality!

The New posh Sushi Bar and Grill

I was quite excited to try the new location opened by Posh. Reason is as much as we have other Sushi restaurants I always enjoyed this one but refused to go to their small business on Delmar. Their version of the Poblano soup always makes melt, even though my girlfriend swears my version is better. I am my worst enemy. The new setup is beautiful and their menu has definitely expanded and called my attention.

We started off with the Gyosas and the kushiage. The gyosas were as I remembered previously, simply delicious, especially with the jalapeno soy mixture. The Kushiage looks simple but the flavor in the frying was great.
The Poblano Soup is by far one of my favorites here in South Texas. I love the spicyness and consistency.
The mixed fried rice with a side of avocado and cream cheese was good. Very laredoan though.....I am very aware the Chinese dont care much for avocado or cream cheese. Have you seen their figures....
The Kamastra roll which is rolled in avocado and has a spicy chipotle sauce is delicious.

My ultimate favorite was The Antiqua roll. It has this very good crunchiness to it with an added touch of chipotle mayo.
So as you can see they still have their original favorites but have now added more of a sophisticated touch than before. There main entree meals besides their rolls seem very appetizing. I will be returning to try their curry chicken as well. Three stars for change!

Bijou Theater, San Antonio

All I can say is that this theater is amazing, but I am not judging theaters, I am judging food. I ordered the tiramisu and chocolate mousse. The tiramisu was extremely dry and needed more espresso for the lady fingers. It looked amazing but was dry.

The chocolate mousse, however, was exceptional. Very well composed and simply delicious.

Four stars for the mousse and one star for the tiramisu!

Fruit and Vegetable Packaging

I decided to provide the link for this article because I think it's very helpful, especially to those of that enjoy summer ripe fruit we can not enjoy during out of season months. Ever tried making a strawberry pie in the middle of winter when you reside in a small town? Boy was I mad ! Another point to this is that freezers also save us time. We can separate entire meals even marinate for the rest of our weekdays and simply thaw when we are about to use. This process would save us prep time we can not afford on certain hectic days. Nonetheless, I hope this is as helpful to you as it is to me. For anyone that missed it, the link is the title itself, Fruit and Vegetable Packaging.
